Intimate Apparel by Lynn Nottage Performing at Art Works Downtown, 1337 Fourth Street (at D Street), San Rafael September 30th through October 24th From the winner of the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for Drama comes a beautiful story about last chances at lifetime dreams. At the turn of the 20th century, Esther makes a living sewing intimate apparel for New York society women as well as prostitutes, and longs for a husband of her own. An exploration of race, class, approaching middle age, and stubborness in 1905 Manhattan. Starring: Rebecca Frank, Jeanette Harrison,Matt Jones, Dawn Scott*, Nick Sholley*, Erica Smith Considered Ms. Nottage's breakthrough play, Intimate Apparel won the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, Steinberg New Play Award, Outer Circle Critics Award, and was nominated for a Lucille Lortel Award. Starring AlterTheater Artists Dawn Scott (After the Fall), fresh from her MFA program at the National Theatre Conservatory/Denver Center, and Jeanette Harrison. New Project by Robert Ernst. Alternative theater icon and Blake Street Hawkeyes co-founder Robert Ernst (Catherine’s Care) returns to AlterTheater with his latest creation, to be developed in workshop over the next six months. Bob’s last project with AlterTheater was nominated for Best New Script from the Bay Area Critics’ Circle.
